Dear Mr. Obama:
I am an artist from China. I have been working on a conceptual art work named the Accusation of Heart since 2007. My artistic conception is -- as a result of the morbid foreign policy of the US, I started to admire and Bin Laden since 911. From the humanistic perspective, it is abnormal to take Bin Laden as an idol. But what makes me abnormal and become a fan of Bin Laden for so many years, is the morbid foreign policy of the US. Therefore, there is reason to make an accusation to the US Government and request compensation for my mental harm.
Since I started my art work in 2007, I have never stopped looking for help. I have asked a number of lawyers, but none of them would undertake my case. Instead, I underwent mockery and ridicule on the way of finding lawyer. I suppose it is because the lack of humanistic spirit of the lawyers.
Law is serious, while art is holy. What I have said that it is the US foreign policy makes me admire Bin Laden, is not a joke. Before the law, it can be approved under hypnotism, psychological counseling, lie detector, and such means of scientific examination. Before the art, I also insist my creative attitude honestly, and be responsible for what I have said and done. Therefore, the reason why I make an accusation to the US Government and request compensation for my mental harm is not trying to make a gimmick. It is a decision which is made because of professionalism and humanism.
If one man is excellent and conscious, he must be aware of his mental health. Making an accusation to the US Government and requesting compensation for my mental harm, is a way to seek for physical and mental health and defend the rights of me myself. “Human rights are more important than national sovereignty.” I agree with the humanitarian conception which is declared by a statesman from western countries. In the whole world, there is nothing important than defending the rights of oneself. I pay attention to my mental health and protect peace of my spiritual world. This action is willing to be the model of the conception “Human rights are more important than national sovereignty”. It is the best way to respect and defend the human rights and democracy. I feel sorry for the lawyers who I met. They know little about the human rights, democracy and humanism.
I believe that the American’s democracy and legal system is the most strengthen in the world, you are the new president, as I have trust in the American’s democracy and legal system, I have no idea, So I decide to write this letter to you to ask you for designating a lawyer for me, according to the solemn, sacred legal order to solve my psychology problem, at the same time, it can help me to finish my art creation.
As what I just said, I take this case as a work of Conceptual Art. “The Lawsuit of Soul” is supposed to have a certain social meaning and value as long as it is an art work. From the surface, I only want to have my rights, but, actually, it is a lesson of social psychology. It is a very serious problem that beyond nations, races, and all the social classes. Everybody knows that a lot of people in the world are worshipers of Bin Laden. They even take him as a hero. Their voices are only heard in folk because of the powerful American government and suppressant of the governments of other nations. But this kind of voice is the most dangerous, and has the strongest penetrability. The more the governments suppress, the louder this voice will be. Let’s take another look at the attacks which are more and more serious, they are extending the range. I cannot help thinking what I can do to the world peace. I am really worried about the terrorism.
“What resulted in terrorism?” “Why do we have to against the terrorism? Why do we feel more terrified the more we against terrorism?” “How can we make terrorism disappear?” “What makes me being a worshiper of Bin Laden?” I have a lot of questions in my mind, so I begin to seek for the answer. I have found out that it is because of the foreign policy of the American government. So, I think the American government should responsible for me. Thinking of the three cases of Compensation for mental suffering, I realize that I should also sue the American government, and ask for the compensation for the mental damages.
There are a lot of factors for me to make this decision, what the most important is that I have been affected in the two psychological crisis. The first psychological crisis is the strain relation between China and American before 9.11. Since I found the military of American is so strong in the first Gulf War and Yugoslav wars that made me be worried about the safe of my life and property, fear that the chariot of American direct to China and be afraid of losing the safe environment. So the resistance of USA appeared. After 9.11,my first thinking is Bin Laden is so powerful. After that, I began to admire Bin Laden and I became a person of unsound mind.
My second psychological crisis happened during the year 2007, that year, the relationship between Iran and the US is very tense. The US seemed to be likely to execute military strikes against Iran, my sympathy and humanistic feelings told me that if the US has launched military attacks against Iran, the international order and the peace of world would have disappeared completely. If that really have happened, then from that moment, the normal individuals of every country would have had no safety in front of the power of US. And this would have caused negative impact on the feelings of many people；There would have been more people who would admire Bin Laden; terrorism would have become the unavoidable nightmare of mankind. Base on this judgment, I finally decided to execute his conceptual work of art and dedicate this work to the cause of anti-terrorism of mankind.
After I have made this decision, I am no longer an overcautious and indecisive cow; I meant to be a noble man with international feelings. The wide spreading notion of admiration for Bin Laden among ranks and classes of nations is so wrong to exist; it’s antihuman, inhumane, immoral and unconscious abnormal social psychology. Because I am also a advocator for bin laden, I expose my psychological problem, and made a label of humanism for this kind of contorted social psychology with the way of judgment based on the law. I manna tell all the advocators of Bin Laden all around the world that admiring the bin laden is some kind of unhealthy morbid notion, there is no reason for him to be the admirable hero for people. At this moment my psychological problem is no longer my own problem; it’s the problem of mankind. If I could stand in the court of US, I could not only solve the problem of mine, I could also solve the problem of anti-terrorism, the peace of world and hegemonies. Of course not, they just think that their government doesn’t have the courage and power to provide safety for them; because of fear for the powerful military force of America, this feeling rises naturally from their hearts. People with this mode are the most helpless, they feel that they are unsafe living in their own country, they long for peaceful life and hope that the terroristic attacks against America would reduce the power of America and bring them this kind of life, so that they can feel safe. In this kind of unhealthy thought, they can be pacifist but also likely to jump into the trap of terrorism. How severe this kind of humanism crisis! I have to admit that I am one of this kind of people , but I have decided to use the legal weapon to defend my own rights, compared with the military confrontations, the attacks made by terrorists, isn’t it more civilized and reasonable?
Real spirits of independence is refusal that declines the stress from society and others and protect of society of conscience. My decision is protecting society of conscience. The case of mind begins a good point and will promote the peace of the world，the cause of humanity anti-terrorism. Honestly speaking, my work must be misunderstand and misread in this country which lack of sense of democracy and humanism, but you, as the President of the USA, must get my mind right disliking my countryman in the USA which is not only a democratic state but also has strong sense of human right and perfect legislative system. Generally speaking, those problems might be solved by political force, but political force usually complicate simple troubles, and make the complicated problems more and more complicated, even worse political might will make simple troubles last for ever. Therefore, the problems that human beings have to face are getting more and more enormous. Why the USA did not win the anti-terrorism war with vast expense, material and human resource? The reason is that the government of the USA pursues the policy make the simple problems complicate and last for ever. Why you did not explore the root of terrorism spread out all over the world？Exploring will make people see the truth easily. If we explore the truth, who could possibly take the advantage of the chaos?
America likes to seek imaginary opponent for itself no matter real or not. As long as America treat others like opponent, America will threaten and even damage safe environment. This is why I have a tortured mind and worship the Bin Laden.
